Company Info

Digilent Inc. is a leader in the design, manufacture, and world wide distribution of FPGA and microcontroller technologies. Since its founding in 2000, Digilent has grown to the point where our products can now be found in over 1000 universities in more than 70 countries throughout the world. As a multinational company with offices in the US, Taiwan, China and Romania, Digilent is able to provide low-cost, expert quality solutions for a variety of customer needs. Digilent also provides high-end OEM manufacturing services for leading technology companies including Xilinx, Cypress Semiconductor and National Instruments, to name a few.

History
Digilent was founded in 2000 by two Washington State University electrical engineering professors; Clint Cole and Gene Apperson. Cole and Apperson saw a need for a basic programming board to integrate with their class lectures. Students learn best by doing, so Cole and Apperson developed a teaching method that integrated lecture with hands on learning, by utilizing their boards. Soon, they were producing boards and selling them throughout the world, fulfilling their desire to make technology understandable and accessible to all.


Bios
Clint Cole, President, worked at Hewlett-Packard, Physio-Control, and Heartstream. Mr. Cole co-founded Heartstream in 1991, serving as lead engineer until Hewlett-Packard purchased the company in 1997. Mr. Cole co-founded Digilent in 2000, where he serves as President and senior engineer. Mr. Cole is also on the faculty at Washington State University, where he teaches many different engineering courses.

Gene Apperson, VP of Engineering, held engineering positions at Boeing and Microsoft. In his 15+ years at Microsoft, he was a key member of several groundbreaking engineering teams, leading technical development efforts that were key to Microsoft's success. Along with Mr. Cole, Mr. Apperson co-founded Digilent.

Jim O'Dell, Director of Operations, is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations and manufacturing of Digilent and OEM products. Mr. O'Dell has 20+ years of logistics and operations management experience gained while serving in the U.S. Army.

Joe Harris, MBA, JD, In-house Counsel, Director of Business Development, manages overseas offices, development of Digilent's education product line, and corporate issues. Mr. Harris has worked in the high-tech industry for several years and is a Fulbright Fellow to Albania where he worked with micro-business development issues.

Ben Liu, MEE, General Manager Digilent Taiwan, has worked at Acer Computer, DTK Computers and most recently at Northern Technologies as Senior Design Engineer with focus on product engineering, production, material control and quality control. Mr. Liu has 20 years experience in engineering design and manufacturing.

Mircea Dabacan, PhD, General Manager Digilent Romania. Professor at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Applied Electronics Department. Mr. Dabacan works in data acquisition systems, digital design and embedded systems, and was formerly a visiting professor at Washington State University.

Frank Zhao, PhD, General Manager Digilent China. Mr. Zhao is a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Microelectronics. Mr. Zhao works with software for automated face recognition, and holds several patents.

Orders placed on our website normally ship within 1 business day of placing your order, presuming the item is in stock.

Import Duties and Fees
Any and all import duties, fees and/or taxes associated with importing or receiving an order will be PAID BY THE CUSTOMER OR RECIPIENT. Unpaid fees will result in a failure to deliver the order. Digilent will not refund your shipping fees as a result of unpaid fees.

Confirmation/Tracking
You will receive an order confirmation by email directly after placing your order. You will receive a shipment confirmation email following the shipment of your order. These confirmations will be sent to the email address you provide on the checkout page.

Backordered Items
Digilent attempts to keep all items in stock, ready for immediate shipment. If for some reason an item is out of stock at the time you place an order, we will hold your entire order until the backordered item becomes available. If you want the in-stock portion of your order to ship sooner, please contact us at sales@digilentinc.com.

Policies

Limited Warranty
Digilent products are warranted to be free from manufacturing defects for 30 days from the date of purchase. No other express or implied warranties are provided. See Return Policy for instructions on product returns.

Return Policy
Digilent products purchased from www.digilentinc.com or Digilent Inc., may be returned for an exchange or refund of the purchase price (less shipping fees), within 30 days of purchase, provided that the item is a) returned with all accessories in the original packaging; b) free from damage; and c) is accompanied by the original invoice.

To return your product:
  1. Obtain an RMA Number: Customers must contact Digilent at returns@digilentinc.com for a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number. Any merchandise returned to Digilent without a valid RMA number will not be accepted. Merchandise precluded from or not discussed in the original RMA will not be accepted.

  2. Return the Merchandise: The customer is responsible for shipping the merchandise to Digilent. It is highly recommended that the shipment be insured for the value of the products as Digilent is not liable for items lost or damaged during shipment. Shipments should include the RMA number on the outside of the box and be addressed to:

    Merchandise listed on the RMA must be received by Digilent within 14 business days of the issuance of the RMA. Digilent reserves the right to refuse RMA's received after that time. Product exchanges or refunds will be processed within 5 business days following the receipt of the merchandise.

    If you are requesting an RMA or exchange due to a technical problem with the product, you must first troubleshoot your problem with a Digilent engineer by contacting support@digilentinc.com.

Academic Pricing
Many of our system boards qualify for special academic pricing. To qualify for academic pricing, you must be a student or work for a qualifying academic institution, and use the board for academic purposes such as class work or research. To get the academic price, click on the (Academic) add-to-cart button on the product page. Then during the checkout process, you must fill out the Academic Pricing Validation questionnaire. Your academic information will be verified by Digilent and shared with our Alliance partners.

Export Policy
Digilent, Inc. hardware, software programs and technical data may not be sold or exported or re-exported, either directly or indirectly, to the U.S. embargoed destinations or entities of Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan or Syria or to persons/entities on the Denied Persons List, Unverified List, Entity List, Specially Designated Nationals List and the Debarred List, without prior written authorization from the appropriate U.S. government departments (Commerce, State Department, Treasury).

Privacy Policy
Any personal information, including your email address, that you provide to Digilent will be used solely to process your order, respond to your request for information, or to provide technical support. Digilent will not sell your personal information to any party.

Terms of Sale
Acceptance of Terms:
Placing an order with Digilent indicates acceptance of the terms stated herein. Receipt of goods by buyer indicates acceptance of all the goods delivered.

Shipping
Shipping fees and insurance are prepaid by buyer and added to the total invoice amount. Shipping and insurance fees are non-refundable. Any duties and/or taxes imposed on products entering a foreign country are the responsibility of the recipient and NOT Digilent Inc.

Warranty
Digilent products are warranted to be free from manufacturing defects for 30 days from the date of purchase. No other implied or express warranties apply.

Returns / Refunds
Digilent products may be returned for a full refund, less shipping, within 30 days of purchase, provided that it is returned with all accessories in the original packaging; it is free from damage; and it is accompanied by it's original invoice. Returns will not be accepted outside of 30 days. Return shipping to Digilent is to be paid by Buyer.

Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Digilent be liable to buyer or buyer’s agent or customer or any third party for any incidental, indirect, special or consequential damages arising in connection with this agreement or arising out of the use of Digilent product, whether or not Digilent was advised of the possibility of such damage.
